Photo Booth Surprise

At the beginning of the week, we were gifted a "surprise" box and told to make a sun band goal for our classroom. We were told that we could open the box when our class reached our goal for the week. This afternoon we got to open our box! We picked a stick to see who would get to open the very exciting surprise! Inside was a bunch of different photo booth props and we got to take pictures! Check out our pictures below!

Housekeeping

Some housekeeping notes for this week and next:

-Friday (February 12th) we will be having Friendship Day. Third graders are allowed to bring in something to pass out to the class (such as cards) but must bring one for every student (we have 17!). The focus will be about friendship and kindness.

-Friday evening (February 12th) is the Stream of Lights parade! Students should be at Essex High School at 4:30pm with an adult. Summit will be gathering in the auditorium. There is more information attached to their lanterns they are bringing home this week! I hope to see many of you there!

You can visit this website for more information: http://www.ccsuvt.org/across-the-universe-stream-of-lights

Lantern Parade

The office has asked us to pass along the following message:
Holy Family's parking lot will NOT be available for Lantern Parade parking.  Holy Family has a function at the church on the 12th.  There will be parking available at the fair ground with a shuttle bus provided at the St. James entrance.

Hope to see you all there next Friday!

100th Day of School

Today we celebrated the 100th day of school!

We got to spend some time with our Kindergarten Buddies! Mrs. Hamilton read us a book and then gave each of us a pair of "100" glasses. Last, we got to see each Kindergartener share their 100th day project with us!

Expected and Unexpected Behaviors

In third grade, we have taken some time to learn about social skills. On Monday, we read a story with Ms. Wageman that helped us understand our actions and the impact they can have on our classroom and school community. Some language that we have been using all year is expected and unexpected behaviors. We learned that when we are acting with expected behavior, people around us feel comfortable and want to be our friend. When we are acting with unexpected behaviors, people may have uncomfortable feelings and may not want to be with us. The third graders learned that it is up to them to use their "social smarts" to figure out what is expected behavior for different situations.

This morning we picked a few times of our day to focus on and we practiced writing expected and unexpected behaviors in small groups! They had some great ideas!
