Lots of Information
Hi Families!
There is A LOT of stuff coming home tomorrow in Friday Folders. Here is a digital overview so you have it all in one place:
Audubon Permission Slip
Third grade is going to the Audubon Center in Huntington for a Insect Adaptation program on Tuesday May 9th. We will be leaving school at 8:45 and returning around 12:00. We will be eating lunch in our classroom. Your child needs to either order a bag lunch from school or bring a home lunch that day. Please return this form right after break.
June 8th
Mark your calendars for June 8th. There will be a poetry open house, summer reading event, and end of year performance at Fleming School. We are hopeful you will be able to attend these special events.
Summer Reading Event (highly recommended event!!!)
In the library on June 8th from 12:00-1:00, Pam Chomsky-Higgins from UVM will be coming to talk with families about how to keep up reading momentum over the summer. This is an AMAZING opportunity and would love for all families to be there. You need to RSVP to me or Kathy Duggan because you will be leaving with some FREE BOOKS to build your home library.
Summit Street Garden
We are looking for some parent volunteers to help the third grade tend to the Summit garden. (Specifically rototilling in the next week or two). See our flyer for more information.
Library Lunch Club
Mrs. Duggan, our lovely librarian, is starting a special lunch club on Thursdays for interested third graders. Please return the permission slip in Friday Folders if your child would like to participate.
SBAC Testing
Your children did an AMAZING job during our first round of SBAC testing! We will be continuing our testing after break on the mathematics section of the assessment. We will be testing May 10th and 11th. It is important your child is well-rested and at school on these days.
Maple Street Park
Now that the last day of school (June 20th, half day) has been decided, third grade will be going to Maple Street Park on June 16th. More information to come, but I know families like to have this date!
After break, third grade tends to get very busy, so I will continue to update the blog with upcoming events and dates! As always feel free to email or call me with any questions or concerns. If we can help accommodate families at these end of year events, please reach out and let me know!
Thanks!!!!
Have a wonderful April break! See you all in May!

Dolphin Videoconference and Garden Club
This morning we had a videoconference with the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, FL. We learned all about dolphins, their adaptations, and their life cycle. Here is a link to some of the different dolphins we saw: https://dolphins.org/our_animal_family
We also started Garden Club at recess! Third grade is taking over the Summit garden! If you have any expertise or are interested in helping us out, we are definitely looking for parent/family volunteers! We will be sending home more information after break! Today we just started by getting the area cleaned up a bit!

Science
Remember: SBAC tomorrow and Thursday!
Today we videoconference with a zoo in Kansas! We learned all about animal adaptations. We looked at three different animals: an owl, a tortoise and a tarantula! Ahhh!!!
We also gathered as a whole third grade to release most of our butterflies! Ms. P (Ms. Bergstrom's student teacher) read us a story and led our activity outside to release our painted lady butterflies into the wild! We got to witness a few come out of their chrysalis in our classroom this morning! Such a cool thing to watch!
